3M E-4 Resin Pressure Gun

RM2,100.00

The 3M™ Resin Pressure System is comprised of several components used for constructing splices or splice jackets on medium voltage power cables for harsh environments. 3M™ Scotchcast™ Electrical Insulating Resin 4 is a key component of the system, which can be used as the primary insulation for shielded and non-shielded splices rated up to 8 kV.
The system is also available as a resin-jacketed tapesplice (TapeCast™) rated up to 25 kV. The resin is a two-part epoxy, packaged in a special Unipak container that provides the exact mixing ratio for making a strong, dependable and long-lasting splice or splice jacket. The versatile resin system accommodates a variety of splice configurations and cables.

A resin pressure system splice is suitable for submerged locations (e.g., manholes and vaults), underground direct burial, and aerial applications. Detailed instructions containing bill-of-materials are available. All parts are ordered separately. See “Insulating and Splicing Tapes,” “Cable Accessory Products” and “Cable Accessory Products—Preparation and Cleaning” for ordering information on other parts for TapeCast Systems. Contact your local 3M representative for further details.

Scotchast Resin-Pressure Splicing Materials For Odd Cable Sizes & Difficult Shapes

Now you can insulate and moisture-proof odd-shaped splices on odd-sized cable…up to 8 kV. And you can make tough, moisture-proof overcasts on tape splices… up to 69 kV.

Versatile Scotchcast Brand Resin-Pressure Splicing Materials

3M engineers have designed Scotchcast Brand Resin-Pressure Splicing Materials for fast simple splices as well as those that deviate from common sizes and configurations. The Scotchcast Resin-Pressure Splice is based on a liquid-tight tape mold built around the splice. It provides moisture resistance, tough mechanical properties and excellent electrical insulation. Here’s how you do it. First, spacer tape is wrapped around the joint. An injection fitting is taped in place. Then a vinyl plastic tape is overwrapped to form a liquid-tight mold. A final overwrap of restricting wrap retains the shape of the mold under pressure as resin is pumped in from the E-4 Resin-Pressure Gun. Scotchcast Brand 4 Resin is the insulating sealant. For shielded cable, a shielding braid tape is wrapped across the splice to continue the electrostatic shielding. The resin-pressure splice can be used as the primary insulation for splices on solid dielectric and oil-filled shielded cables rated up to 8 kV. For higher rated cables (up to 69 kV) a tape splice can be made with a resin overcast to provide moisture and mechanical protection.
