Description
With millions of installations throughout the world, Raychem heat-shrink cable terminations for up to 36kV are acknowledged to be more reliable and quicker to install than conventional systems.
Consistent performance in extreme temperatures, atmospheric pollution and ultra-violet light has proven the insulating and sealing ability of Raychem terminations for more than 35 years.
TKN/TKU heat-shrink termination as key product line of Raychem heat-shrink cable accessory, specially designed for ASEAN region power system applications. It employs advanced technology and features same with EPKT, APKT termination, has been widely used in ASEAN market, especially in Malaysia.
Features & Benefits
- All applications for polymeric and MIND paper on 1-core, 3-core, armoured and unarmoured cables
- Red non-tracking Raychem HVOT tubing provides excellent environmental protection
- Universal termination family for 11-33 kV based on Raychem SCTM stress control technology
- Can be used in combination with Raychem RICS / RCAB / RSRB switchgear connection systems
- Enhanced range-taking ability means that one kit fits more conductor sizes, reducing stocking requirements
- Unlimited shelf life allows stocking of economic quantities without product spoilage Simplifield cable
- Components are lightweight and non-shattering
- Clear instruction sheets
- Fully sealed against water ingress from the environment or from within the conductor strands
- Compatible with all state of the art screen removal techniques
- No tapering of insulation required
- No polishing of polymeric insulation surface
- Factory engineered kit permits rapid on-site installation
- No mechanical stress at insulation screen cutback
- Termination accommodates same bending radius as cable
- Visual confirmation of correct assembly sequence possible after installation
- Rain skirts can be installed to allow either top or bottom feed
- No soldering of earthing accessories required
- Unsurpassed performance in polluted environments, proven over three decades.
General Instructions
Use a propone (preferred or a butane gas torch.
Adjust the torch to obtain a soft blue flame with a yellow tip. Pencil-like blue flames should be avoided.
Keep the flame moving continuously to avoid scorching the material.
Clean and degrease all parts that will come into contact with the sealant.
If solvent is used follow the manufacturer’s handling instructions.
Tubing should be cut smoothly with a sharp knife leaving no jagged edges.
The stress control tubing (black) should never be cut.
Start shrinking the tubing and moulded parts at the position recommended in the instructions.
Tubing should be smooth and wrinkle free with profile of inner components clearly defined.
Cable Preparation
Cable with Wire Shields.
Remove the oversheath to the dimension L + K.
Clean and degrease the the end of the oversheath for about 100mm.
Wrap one layer of the red sealant mastic, with a small overlap and slight tension, around the end of the oversheath for 60mm.
Bend the shielding wires back onto the oversheath, Avoid crossing the individual wires. Fix the wires with a wire binder 60mm from the end of the oversheath, Twist the the shielding wires together to form an earth lead.
Thoroughly remove the insulation screen to the dimension given in drawing “A” so that the insulation surface is free from all traces of conductive material.
Note: Do not score or nick the insulation!.
Cable with Metal Tape Shields.
Remove the oversheath to the dimension L + K.
Clean and degrease the end of the oversheath for about 100mm.
Thoroughly remove the insulation screen to the dimension given drawing “B”so that the insulation surface is free from all traces of conductive material.
Note: Do not score or nick insulation!.
